Giving Back in Recognition of Minority Mental Health Awareness Month: The Loveland Foundation
As of June 2020, Shop BuzzFeed has taken a bigger stance on our efforts to give back to those in need. Previously, we had been able to support various charities with specialized collections but have since figured out how we can help in a more impactful way.
With July being Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, it’s more important than ever to provide healing opportunities to women who experience inequity every day. In continuing with our Giving Back initiative, Shop BuzzFeed is proud to announce we will be donating 10% of our entire store’s profits from the month of July to The Loveland Foundation.
Originating from a successful birthday donation fundraising event by Rachel Cargle, The Loveland Foundation was established in 2018 and aims to give Black women and girls access to therapy support. The Loveland Foundation partners with a number of high quality, affordable mental health professionals and therapeutic organizations to ensure the next generation of Black women and girls have an outlet for their experiences. Some examples of their partners are Therapy for Black Girls, Open Path Collective, and National Queer & Trans Therapists of Color Network.
Apart from being an avenue of accessibility, The Loveland Foundation also gives financial assistance each season to a cohort of women who wouldn’t normally be able to participate. Their goal for 2020 is to provide 1000 women with financial support for 4-8 therapy sessions. Help The Loveland Foundation achieve this goal through your purchase from any Shop BuzzFeed collection this month. Thank you to The Loveland Foundation for allowing us to be a part of something bigger than ourselves!
